The issue with this site is that it has the ability to be self-destructive.

The information being shared can be expressed in a more respectful and non-violent way. The language is very triggering for some people.

Depression is an illness and should be treated and respected as one, not talked about like it is dirt.

Just saying…

Interesting point. However, depression disrespects the individual that has it, and inspires self-violence through internal verbal criticism and external self-sabotage. The language used on this site mimics the language of depression and the unfair arguments that a depressive encounters within their own mind.

This language speaks against depression as violently as depression speaks against its host. This language aggressively attacks depression, and yes, at times targets other individuals who cause a depressive harm out of their ignorance. Still, at other times this language aggressively encourages a depressed individual to seek out those who can offer support, or informs a depressed individual that, like everyone else, they have a right to be unhappy just as they have a right to seek out their happiness.

Depression is an incredibly serious condition, and those who are experiencing it deserve sympathy and intense respect for their perseverance. However, that it is an illness is only one perspective. People have found many ways of interacting with and managing their depression and this site encourages people to find their own way.
